Artist Insight
Each picture is built on a double perspective, composed of two horizon lines, as a symbol of both terrestrial and spiritual lives. Architectural elements come over the background landscape: the Pages get a double Tower. The Queens get a double perspective staircase. The Kings gets a majestic castle.The Knights get a wide space toped by a ceiling. The composed background is, then, included inside a passe-partout that illustrates the four elements of Nature:
Wands = Earth || Cups = Water || Coins = Fire || Swords = Air
The whole lot sets inside a transparent frame that lets appear a magnified vision of the background.
The characters are double: they stand inside as well as outside the background surroundings, that is to symbolise the duality of every individual through intra and extra-version.
Introversion is shown as an over dimensioned, meaning that the inner life of a person is widely more important than the part dedicated to the relation with the outside world.
The Page's double is shown as magnified and melts with the higher tower, as a symbol of Narcissism.
The Queens are supported by a double magnified picture of a voluptuous female companion, that is to indicate their unsuspected inner life opulence.
The Kings show out a magnified double that is overpassing the outside frame. That is to symbolise men’s ambition and tendency to exert domination and power abuse.
The Knights go with a large dimensions inverted double. That is to symbolise the capacity of self retention.
Each one of the Arcana shows on the lower left corner a couple: that is to symbolise the Duality. The various couples represent the variety of human relations in matter of Intellect, Feelings, Imagination and Sensuality.
Each picture shows on the bottom right angle an illustration of the Jungian Psychological Fonction associated to the corresponding Arcana:
Each suit is associated to a different type of boardgames in relation to its general meaning:
Wands: Dominos (Interdependence / Feelings) || Cups: Lucky Wheels and Numbers (Sensations) || Coins: Chess (Intellect) || Swords: Dices / Random (Intuition)
